The Taekwondo game has been described as not just a game but that which can impact positively on the children/youths or any person indulging in it.
This was made known by the Chairman of the Enugu State Taekwondo Association, CSP Ebere Amaraizu on 13th June, 2020 while interfacing with Taekwondo Instructors led by Grandmaster Frankline Ekwerike at the IGP M A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu.
According to Amaraizu, who also is the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), the accruing benefit in the game of Taekwondo attracted POCACOV in its partnership with Taekwondo.
He stated that; “Taekwondo game empowers the girl child through its teachings on Survival Skills which is beneficial to them and saving them against any molestation by any person.”
Amaraizu also disclosed that: “Following the partnership between POCACOV/Enugu state Taekwondo Association, a training Module have been developed by the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre Enugu for full scale implementation for the POCACOV/Taekwondo Kiddies Programme under the Safer Child, Safer Nation Programme (SCSNP) of the Safer school/Community Partnership (SSCP) which revolves around POCACOV VOLUNTEER CLUB(PVC) of POCACOV for the realization of the transforming our world of Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
“The Pocacov/Taekwondo kiddies Programme is centered on teaching Survival Skills under the following tenets:Modesty, Integrity, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit, Self Control and EMPOWERING THE GIRL CHILD.
“The developed module according to the POCACOV National Coordinator, will see the partnership with POCACOV with relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies(MDAs) as well as various state Ministries of Education and Youth and Sports Development amongst others on the deepening of the POCACOV/TAEKWONDO Kiddies Programme in schools and colleges and Communities.Pocacov/Taekwondo kiddies programme will equally be an added boost to SAFE GIRL,SAFE SOCIETY programme(SGSSP) and help in the reduction of related issues of SEXUAL AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE(SGBV).
Responding on behalf of the Taekwondo Instructors/Coach, Grandmaster Frankline Ekwerike who also is a state Coach in Taekwondo thanked the Chairman of the Enugu state Taekwondo Association and POCACOV National Coordinator for various Taekwondo innovative programme since his assumption of office as the state Chairman.
He extolled the concept of POCACOV/TAEKWONDO KIDDIES PROGRAMME owing to its accruing benefits and assured that they will be happy for full scale implementation of the modules on resumption after the full ease down of the lockdown owing to COVID 19 pandemic.
He enjoined parents, guardians and caregivers to utilize the opportunity of POCACOV/Taekwondo kiddies and adult class programme at an arena closer to the indoor sports complex of the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.
Highlights of the interface was the formal unveiling of the Pocacov/Taekwondo Kiddies programme containing Taekwondo tenets that participants will benefit under the Taekwondo Survival Skill programme.
