The people of Neke-Uno in Enugu East local government area of Enugu state have called on the state government and other relevant agencies to come to their aid and save them from the hands of one Barr. Chukwuemeka Agbo who they described as an imposter and accused him of doing everything possible to destabilize their community for his own selfish interest.
Their appeal is coming hours, after the lawyer (Barr. Chukwuemeka Agbo) whom they also accused of fanning the embers of violence in their community led few members of the community to protest at the State Government House.
Some members of the community that spoke to our correspondent wondered why the lawyer who’s not from their community (but from Ugwuogo Nike) will be parading himself as their community lawyer and went as far as leading a protest to destabilize their community.
One of the leaders of the community said; “the action of the lawyer is despicable and height of professional recklessness as the lawyer doesn’t have their mandate to stand as their counsel.”
The community leader who craved anonymity as he doesn’t have the mandate of the community to speak on the matter went further to state their overall leader; Chief Raymond Agbo has also written a “warning letter” to the lawyer telling him to stop parading himself as the counsel.
We also gathered that the Igwe of the community, Igwe E.N.S Udeoku Edoga (JP) has made efforts to settle the leadership tussle in the community which is centered on who becomes the “Chairman of Power of Attorney”.
In a copy of the resolution by Igwe Edoga dated 1st of August made available to us, the Igwe said: “Mr. Anayo Agbo was duly elected as the Power of Attorney Chairman by his people and has since been given the mantle as evidenced by the ancient basin containing the documents used by the past Chairmen of the Power of Attorney handed to him and the consequent blessing of his team by the Oha Neke Elders as shown clearly in the video played before me during the proceeding, wherein, the people celebrated his emergence.” Watch the video below:
