Positive reactions have continued to trail the improved electricity supply in the South East as the customers of Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) express their happiness over the recent development.
The customers that cut across artisans, traders, housewives, industrialists in Enugu, Nsukka, Awka, Onitsha, Aba, all commended the EEDC for the level of improvement recorded within the last six weeks, acknowledging that it has drastically improved their businesses and quality of life.
Mr Emmanuel Chukwu, a barber at Agu Street, Achara Layout, Enugu said:
“Before I buy not less than N800 petrol daily so as to keep my business going but since the improvement in supply for two months running when I buy N800 petrol I use it for six days. For almost two months, I have continued to experience stable supply within my business hours, even if they take the light, you are sure that within 20 or 30 minutes it will be restored. I pray EEDC continues with this good work”
Ovunna Decland from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State in his reaction, commended the EEDC for “its effort in ensuring constant power supply within our jurisdiction in Abakaliki”
Chika Highstar from Fegge Onitsha simply said: “EEDC is doing very well here in Fegge, they should keep it up”
According to Mr Mike Ugwuani, a Welder on Agbani Road, Enugu:
“The improvement in power supply has made me have confidence in EEDC because I now deliver jobs at agreed time and day. The days of excuses, quarrel and hiding from customers is over I now have steady electricity supply. Before now, I lose customers due to inability to meet demands due to unstable electricity, but today the story has changed.
Mr Ifeanyi Ossai, a tailor in Nza Street in Independent Layout, Enugu said: “There has been increased improvement in electricity supply, which has helped me to meet my customers demand. Due to the relatively steady supply for about two months, I now close shop by 9p.m. and I cannot remember the last time I bought charcoal for my native pressing iron any longer’’
Miss Gloria Nnamani, a resident of Amaechi Road: “There has been over six hours additional electricity supply within Amaechi Road and I must give kudos to EEDC for this recent improvement. Amaechi Road and its adjoining streets enjoy about fourteen hours of non-stop supply especially during the evening hours of 7p.m. till 9a.m. the next morning before people go out for their daily businesses’’
Temitope on twitter @walexzy7 said “@enugudisco you guys have been doing well for some time in Aba now, we should not let affliction rise again oo.”
Reacting to the new development, the Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, attributed the improvement to concerted efforts and huge investments made by the company in maintaining, upgrading and strengthening its network, a project that has been on since over one year.
“We are excited that our customers are already experiencing the effect of these efforts and hope they will reciprocate by promptly paying their energy bills”.
Mr. Ezeh in a press statement issued on Wednesday said there is no way EEDC would be able to sustain this level of improvement if customers do not pay for the services.
The company also urged her customers to desist from illegal activities that negatively impact on its operations, such as meter bypass, energy theft, unauthorised access to the network, vandalism, etc.
To ensure that this level of improvement gets to other parts of the network, Ezeh said that the company have some identified projects that are yet to be executed, which when completed, will positively enhance the service quality and customer experience.
“EEDC is committed to ensuring that this feat already achieved is not just maintained, but surpassed”, Ezeh assured.
