The Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, for Enugu East local government, Michael Onyeka has been suspended by the party for diverting the palliative (Rice) meant for members of his party.
The suspended Chairman it was learnt, diverted part of the rice meant for four wards in his local government. The affected wards are; Mbuluiyikwu ward 2, Ugwogo ward 3, Umuchigbo ward and Mbuluowehe ward.
The palliative is the rice provided by the Director General, Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu.
Three of the affected ward Chairmen; 1. Alum Innocent, Chairman- Mbuluiyikwu ward, Chinedu Nnam, Chairman- Mbuluowehe ward and Mbah Paschal, Chairman- Ugwogo ward wrote a petition to the Barr. Ben Nwoye led state executives. The state Chairman ordered the setting up of a 6-man-panel headed by Fidelis A. Onuma to investigate the matter and report their findings to the party.
The Panel, drawn from the six LG in Enugu East district JOURNALIST101 gathered, invited the Chairman and he pleaded guilty to the allegation leveled against him by the ward Chairmen.
After the investigation and in accordance with the party’s constitution, the man was suspended
The Enugu East district Chairman of the APC, Chief Anike Nwoga told our correspondent that; “this action is in consonant with the resolve of the party leadership in the state to restore sanity and discipline in the party stressing that “the days of impunity or anyhowness by members of the party are over.”
The suspended chairman was accused of diverting 25kg of rice each from the four wards.
