The political happenings in Enugu State is beating the political assumptions of political pundits in the state with the thunderous reemergence of the most popular political family in Enugu State- The “EBEANO FAMILY”.
The political family which resonated across all parts of the state between 1999-2007 when the former governor, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani was in charge of the state as the governor following the return of democracy.
The political family was so popular that all the who is is who in the modern day Enugu politics is a product of that family firmly and credibly led by the grand master himself; Senator Chimaroke Nnamani.
However, the fortunes of the Ebeano family members nosedived with the emergence of Sullivan Chime in May 29th, 2007, who despite being a product of the Ebeano family jettisoned the family and charted a new political course shortly after emerging the Governor of the state.
All efforts by the former governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, to turn their fortunes around around in 2011 and 2015 hit the brick wall as he failed in his attempt to either install the next governor of the state or return to the red chambers.
But in the build up to 2019 election, something remarkable happened, the incumbent governor who’s blazing trails in his efforts to entrench peace in the state supported former Governor Nnamani to emerge the senator representing Enugu East after two failed attempts. This signalled the resurrection of the Ebeano political family.
The political acrimony between the two former governors; Sullivan Chime and Chimaroke Nnamani was so pronounced that political analysts never believed the duo can look each other on the face
But in a shocking development, Sullivan visited Nnamani in his Agbani country home on Friday, 18th September, 2020.
This is coming a day to the proposed solidarity visit of the Ebeano political group to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Enugu Government House.
The Coordinator of the Ebeano political group and former SSG Dr. Dan Shere may have hinted to the reconciliation when in an exclusive chat with Everyday News he said it is time to forgive.
Hear him; “We just want to do a support for the governor. It is a pan Enugu movement; Enugu is one united family. What the wawa people are known for is universal brotherhood which we want to demonstrate in politics.
“The era of politics of bitterness and dividing each other should not arise again. Its time to start reconciliation because forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.
“Everybody should forgive each other and let’s unite in brotherhood to support our brother to perform. Because once a governor has the support of his people then he can concentrate and do development projects instead of distracting him with quarrels and disunity he will be confused on who to go with but if Enugu is one it will give him the opportunity of concentrating on developmental projects….”
