Former Member of the House of Representatives KGB Oguakwa has congratulated Nigeria’s one time Chief of Naval Staff, Member of General Abacha’s Ruling AFRC and former Governor of old Anambra State, Admiral Allison Amaechina Madueke GCON, on the occasion of the release of his (Madueke’s) autobiography to the public.
In a statement he captioned “From my perch upon tide’s window sill“ released to the media, Oguakwa, a one-time Chairman of the House of Representatives Committees on Aviation, Tourism and Culture, described the Admiral’s Book titled “RIDING THE STORMS WITH GOD IN MY SAILS” as a “magnum opus” not just in its sheer volume; 500-pages though it is, but by the author’s prodigious intellect showcased throughout the presentation.
Hon Oguakwa disclosed that; “The richness of its chronicle is underpinned by the brutal frankness of the author -AAM- as he renders a rather eventful tale, rehashing a life’s journey, unsparing of even the vicissitudes which often times derail many a mission, the temptations, the fortuitous, the grit, even the exasperating – all presented in a masterful rendition which, placed as they are, side by side the many hard won accolades-studded victories, bear solid witness, pay incomparable tribute to a life of admirable talent, ambitious self-development, unsparing discipline -self & instructional, and unwavering focus of both positive passions and self-set objectives. Successes galore nevertheless, hard-won, each.
“This incredibly rich living-legend-style literary work exposes the primacy of humble beginnings and the irreducible strength drawn from family – nuclear and extended. It lays bare an admixture of not only the good, but also the betrayals lived through and survived. It hugs, with smiles of benign satisfaction, the many bright lights whose mite represent a reciprocity of friendship, of relationship and the warm knowing handshake amongst honourable men. Its lessons of humility, self evident in the author’s deep reverence, the simplicity of his abiding unpretentious love of God.
In obvious reference to some of the military-action pictures contained in the Book, Oguakwa continued:
“Seen (on the Battleship), winched up, off and away, across the hostile unforgiving wild turbulent seas, a portrait which draws an involuntary sharp gasp in awe, yet, in its moment exposes the stellar well-rounded professional about whom the Book panders”
Honourable Oguakwa lamented however, that; “It is only in a disorderly country such as ours that such an important literary work could be acquired with a mere N7,000 and change. I picked a copy from Roban stores. It is a Book which is highly recommended to all who seek to lead their homes, families, community or our Society at large”
