The Independent National Electoral Election (INEC) has declared Governor Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner of the Ondo state governorship election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 292,830 to defeat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 195,791.

The former deputy governor of the State, Mr. Ajayi came a very distant third with over 60,000 votes.

Professor Idowu Olayinka, the vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan who served as the returning officer made the official declaration.

With the INEC’s final declaration, Governor Akeredolu will be presiding over the affairs of the state for the next four years unless his victory is nullified by the court
