The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has directed that the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) should further involve itself with a school sanitation support for safer school, wellbeing and health which is in line with goal no 3 (good health and well being) and no 16 (peace and justice, strong institutions) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, “the IGP directive on POCACOV school reopening sanitation support will serve as a platform for children and youth reorientation and engagement bearing in mind the focal area of POCACOV initiative which is to save Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices through advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, mentoring and reorientation and using community oriented approaches.
“The POCACOV school reopening sanitation support for safer school in line with the realization of SDGs is one of community oriented programme structured by the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Adamu to achieve safer school, wellbeing and good heath.”
Amaraizu further disclosed that all the POCACOV state coordinators across the federation are to work harmoniously with POCACOV stakeholders, ambassadors who are comedians, actors, actress and artistes of reputable characters, POCACOV volunteer club members as well as NYSC/POCACOV community development service (POCACOV/NYSC CDS) as earlier inaugurated by the Inspector General to achieve the desired result.
“To this end, all POCACOV state coordinators and state chairmen of POCACOV volunteer clubs(PVC) for safer community/school are to engage themselves with the all important programme and submit their mode of verifications (MOVs) to IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre for future necessary action,” Amaraizu concluded.
