Ambassador Ozonwachukwu Uche, the National Coordinator of Young Fellows Initiative, YFI, have called on the youths across the country to embrace the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV as a means of addressing some of the challenges the younger generations are facing.

Amb. Ozonwachukwu made the call on the wake of protests across the nation which has unfortunately being hijacked by ‘hoodlums’.

Ozonwachukwu who was speaking in his Enugu office said; “As this protest gained traction across the nation, it was disheartening to see young people addressed as hoodlums hijacked the process. In a sane society, we shouldn’t have people being addressed as hoodlums.

“The society made them hoodlums and this is why POCACOV has a lot to do in addition to their numerous jobs. If the youths embrace this police initiative, we will not have these hoodlums as they are addressed, hijacking meaningful demands of the youths.”

Enumerating the achievements of POCACOV, Amb. Nwachukwu said that as a youth leader, a lot of lives have been saved through the efforts of the initiatve.

“I have been with POCACOv and my organization have also being working with them. It can boldly tell you that through Advocacy, engagement of stakeholders, use of sports, and indoor games, POCACOv is changing the narrative and helping a lot of youths in the street.

“After the POCACOV anti vices football march, two of the players were invited by Rangers for training. This is the impact I’m talking about. We have the school chess game that was flagged of in this October. All these are to engage the younger ones in meaningful activities.”

The youth leader while calling for more support for POCACOV, thanked the Inspector-General of Police for coming up with the initiative. He also called on cooperate and public institutions to rally round POCACOV especially now that the country in dealing with youth restiveness.
