A landmark move in the history of Adada General Assembly was made with the visit to the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo by the National Chairman, Chief Laz Ogbonna and some members of his team.
A statement announcing the move by the group’s Director of Media/Publicity, Rita Eberechukwu Anigbogu, noted that “the interaction wasn’t only educative, reassuring and cordial, but instructive, compelling and a call to duty.”
She stated that, “We never expected anything less from a patriot, an orator, historian and a motivator. We were taken down memory lane on the struggle of a people who have craved for political social and economic emancipation. Just when the flame seemed to have extinguished and it looked like the people lacked direction, this epochal visit reignited the flame, desire and passion to fight on for a common cause.”
“Adada General Assembly(AGA) is a sociocultural/pressure group aimed at galvanizing and uniting our cultural zone of Isi Uzo, Uzo Uwani, Igbo Etiti, Udenu, Igbo Eze North, Igbo Eze South and Nsukka towards a firm position of affairs towards the emancipation of our people both in thought and action for a renaissance that will ensure that our further subjugation is eradicated or better still minimized.
“We are resolute towards ensuring that come 2023, the Governor of our dear state Enugu must come from that zone for the purposes of equity and balance of power.
“Beyond this noble agenda, we have to rise up against frivolous attacks on our Governor HE Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom despite his infrastructural strides is being attacked from undeserving quarters.
“Our discussions were devoid of unnecessary sentiments. Truths were told. The most important takeaway was the realization that a lot of work has to be done. The battle ahead must be approached with all seriousness and there’s need for a united commitment towards the actualization of the task ahead.
“He gave us the assurance of our having an audience with His Excellency, the governor in the shortest time wherein our vision and mission will be explained to him. The die is cast and all hands must be on deck.
“We gave him the assurances of our commitment to the ideals of the governor and expansion of ideas and suggestions on how to move our cultural zone forward. Ike Nsukka became emotional by telling us that our visit has added more years to his life and promised to lead the struggle provided we don’t veer off cause. We were sumptuously entertained,” she added.
