A community-based youth group, the Udi Youth Council of Enugu state has identified with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) ahead of the upcoming youth summit with the theme ‘Youth Engagement and Government Policies.’

The youth group made this known yesterday when they paid a visit to the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu at the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre Enugu.

According to the president of the group, Arinze Odo who led other executive members, they decided to throw their weight behind the initiative after discovering its value to the youths.

“We have carefully followed POCACOV activities and have discovered that it is a unique police programme targeted at the youth in terms of youth value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership direction hence the need for us to embrace the programme.

“We are in love with the programme because it is community oriented using advocacy, awareness creation and sensitization, mentoring and reorientation of Nigerian children and youth.

“We thank the Nigeria Police Force and commend the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu on POCACOV Initiative,” Odo said.

He, however, outlined some topical issues to be discussed during the youth summit to include exposing Udi youths on the relevancy of skill acquisition and enterpreneurship, effect of social vices on youth development, the role of the youths in nation building and national development and youth inclusion in governance.

Responding, the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu thanked the youth group for identifying with POCACOV in relation to the scope covered by POCACOV and assured them of POCACOV maximum support.

Amaraizu maintained that as a community driven programme, POCACOV will continue to work with different stakeholders across the country and galvanizing their support to reorient Nigerian children and youths for a strategic leadership direction and engagement for national and socioeconomic development.
