Delta State youths have asked the Federal Government to stop harassing #EndSARS protesters.
The youths, who decried the freezing of accounts of some of the protesters by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), also opposed the government’s seizure of their international passports.
They spoke at the weekend in Asaba, the state capital, at a town hall meeting with the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.
The youth urged the Federal Government to provide jobs for them, resuscitate its industries in the state, ensure stable power supply and urgently repair its roads across the state.
They also called for the establishment of a help desk in the state’s Ministry of Youths Development for easy access and network to the Federal Ministry of Youths to easily connect with the Federal ministry’s programmes and projects.
Dare said the Federal Government had lots of programmes to develop the youth and urged them to exercise some patience to enable the government implement their demands.
The minister, who presented Federal Government’s programmes and projects for youths, promised to package a document that will be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for easy implementaion.
He also promised to bring on board other ministers to engage with the youth on issues that relate to their ministries directly in subsequent meetings.
Youths Development Commissioner Ifeanyi Egwunyenga told the minister the various programmes the state government had done to engage the youth.
