Modalities have been intensified for the successful conduct of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) Ogun State Summit by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.
According the National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu, “the Ogun state POCACOV summit which is being convened in partnership with Ogun State Government will be having its theme as ‘Cultism And Other Vices: A Growing Menace and Destructive Element To Socio-Economic Development in Nigeria’ and will be taking place on 24th November, 2020 beginning from 10am local time at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.”
Amaraizu added that, “the Ogun state POCACOV Summit will bring on board broad spectrum of different stakeholders with a view to resolving issues of cultism and other vices using community oriented policing approaches and in line with the tenets of community oriented policing.”
The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) is the initiative of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu aimed at saving the Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices using community oriented policing approaches like advocacy, awareness creation and sensitizations, mentoring and reorientation for a safer and secured community.
It also represents a new approach by the Nigeria Police Force in combating cultism and other vices hence the need to work with different stakeholders in getting to the root of the matter and setting them right. POCACOV has been involved in community mobilizations, community peace building and safer community/school programmes through the POCACOV Volunteer Clubs(PVC).
