The Coal City Neighbourhood Football League Season One also known as Ball Ogbe organized by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) with GOFEC Movie Industries and in partnership with the Enugu state Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, amongst others, kicked off smoothly on November 14 at Ngwo park pitch.

The match began with opening formalities which includes address of teams by the National Coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu on the essence of the neighbourhood (Ogbe Bolu) football league which is for youth value reorientation, unification, engagement and strategic leadership direction.

He charged all participating neighbourhood (Ogbe) to always reflect on the essence of the game which is a community peace building programme and to also cement police public relations for a robust partnership.

The kick off of the all important community oriented policing football event tagged “POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neighbourhood Football League Season one” was done by the Enugu State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Tony Manfred Nzekwe who also advised participating team to exhibit spirit of sportmanship and always reflect on the essence of the event which is to offer strategic leadership direction, engagement and value reorientation and that is why POCACOV is involved.

The opening match was between Abakpa Neighbourhoood (Ogbe) Team Against Agbani Road Neighbourhood (Ogbe) Team and at the end of the keenly contested encounter, Agbani Neigbourhood (Ogbe) Team defeated Abakpa by 3 goals to one.

Trans Ekulu neighbourhood team will battle with Asata neighbourhood on November 17 by 4pm while G.R.A neighbourhood team will trade tackle with Coal Camp neighbourhood team on November 19 by 4pm at Ngwo Park pitch.

POCACOV is the initiative of the Nigeria Police Force Under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu aimed at saving Nigerian children and Youths from the claws of cultism and Other Vices through Advocacy,Awareness Creation and sensitizations,Mentoring and Reorientation. It is a community driven programme involving different stake holders and a represents a new approach by the Nigeria Police Force in combating Cultism and Other Vices.

POCACOV seeks to galvanize stakeholders participation and support to achieve youth value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership direction as well as community peace building in line with goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institution) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
