Enugu Youth Leader, MC and a Philanthropist, Comrade Monday Diamond, in commemoration of his Birthday has given scholarship to fifty five (55) indigent students from Nkanu East local government area of the state.
The benefiting communities include; Mburubu, Nkerefi, Nomeh and Akpawfu
The former student leader and activist said the gesture is part of his resolve through his foundation; Monday Diamond Foundation to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden and help them achieve their goal of going to school irrespective of the financial status of their parents or guardian.
Comrade Diamond who is the president of Nkanu Youths Council and the Chairman, NANS Presidential Special Task Force on COVID-19, Enugu state said his Birthday is usually a moment of reflection for him and this is one of his ways of appreciating God for his goodness towards him.
The principals of the various schools, Mrs. Eunice Ogbodo (Community Secondary school, Nomeh), Mr Mbah Alphonsus (Community Secondary school, Mburubu), Mr. Abonyi (Community Secondary school, Nkwerefi) and Mrs Mary Achebe (Community Secondary school, Akpawfu) all thanked the sponsor, Comrd. Diamond for remembering the poor in the society and prayed to God to bless him and his Foundation.
The beneficiaries thanked Comrd. Diamond and his Foundation for remembering them at this time of need and promised to always be good students and read their books as that is the only way they can show their appreciation for what has been done for them.
