•Educate community in dangers of cultism, other vice

Cultism and other vices has been described as a very destructive element to Nigerian children and youths and to the socioeconomic development of a society because of its consequencies such as untimely death, disruption of businesses, social and academic activities.

This was made known by the Anambra State Coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) SP Chukwudi Okorogu during a community outreach and campaign against cultism, sexual and gender-based violence, substance and drug abuse, thuggery and violence and other vices held at Omor community of Anyamelum Local Government Areaof Anambra state on 26/11/2020.

The community outreach was aimed at educating the youth and other stakeholders on the inherent dangers of cultism and other vices and the need to shun them in order to be a champion.

According to the Anambra State Coordinator POCACOV, “there was need for children and youths to shun all these negative tendencies in order to become the champion of their dream and to make a better society free of violence and other vices.”

He explained that cultism has aided in untimely death, maiming of some youths and children by their rival groups and also has led to so many drop out of children and youths from various schools and a situation which does not promote healthiness and wealthiness of the society and urged them to identify with the message of POCACOV which is geared towards making them better citizens and for a safe and secured society.

No fewer than two hundren participants including youths and other stakeholders attended the all important programme. The programme was in line with the community peace building and safer school and community sheme of the police campaign against cultism and other vices to make the society, community and state better and safe.

Apprreciating, the POCACOV Team which includes the State Coordinator and the state chairman of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices Volunteer Club(PVC) for safer school and community, Prince Donatus Orjika and team, the President General of the community, Chief Barrister Onwuachi thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, and the Nigeria Police Force for coming up with a community driven programme called POCACOV which is involving various stakeholders to bring peace in the community and urged all to join hands with POCACOV to eliminate cultism and other vices in the state and Nigeria at large.
