The governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on December 9th, 2020 presented the 2021 budget estimate tagged; “Budget of National Recovery and Continued Growth” estimated at One Hundred and sixty Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Forty Five Million, Seven Hundred and fifty eight Thousand Five hundred Naira. (169, 845, 758, 300) to the Enugu State House of Assembly (ENHA)
This is 13% higher than the 2020 revised Budget of N146,374,641,080.00
The recurrent expenditure according to the budget will take N68.771bn which represents 40.00 percent while the capital budget gets a N101.1bn which represents 60 percent Of the 2021 budget.
2021 Budget the governor said is part of their 8-point agenda stressing that the 2020 budget achieved most of its set out agenda which made Enugu state outstanding and the fastest growing in terms of the economy in the entire country despite the economic hardship occasioned by the covid19.
Landmark projects in the 2021 budget include the rehabilitation of the 9th Mile Water scheme, completion of the International Conference Center, Construction of Flyover at T-junction by Nike lake Resort centre, Nike Road, Abakpa Nike, Enugu, Completion of ESUT Teaching Hospital, Igbo Eno; installation of Astro-turf & Tartan Tracks, floodlighting with associated Works at Nsukka Stadium, Nsukka LGA; rehabilitation/construction of more Urban and Rural roads; construction of Station Road-Subway Flyover/Underpass to Ogui road with a spur to market road by Red-Cross; construction of additional type III Model Primary Health Centers in Oji River, Aninri, and Awgu LGAs; establishment of Fertilizer blending plant and cottage Rice Mill; completion of the rehabilitation of Enugu Ezike General Hospital and construction of its Amenity Building; integration of Adada Water Scheme and rehabilitation of other Water Schemes in Enugu North Senatorial District, and drilling of new Water boreholes with storage facilities and reticulation across the State amongst others.
While thanking the House for their robust support, the governor thanked them for the speedy passage of the 2020 budget.
The speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi assured the Governor that the budget will be passed in a record time.
The Speaker thanked the Governor for his continued support, assuring him that they won’t take it for granted.
