…ESUT Ag. VC lauds his high sense of humility and diligence to duty

Another feather has been added to the glowing cap of the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman MSC, FICMC, FCAI, MNIM, following his induction as a “Fellow” of Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).

The investiture ceremony held at the New Senate Chambers of the University in Agbani, Enugu State today, 10th December, 2020.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Ugwueze said the investiture of the Police Boss, Sheikh Ahmed Abdurrahman into the institute was welcomed by the entire University management when the idea of inducting him (Abdurrahman) was presented before and they described it as “Honour well deserved”.

According to Prof Ugwueze; “CP Ahmed Abdurrahman isn’t being honoured because he’s the number one police officer in Enugu State but because of the humility inherent in him and the manner in which he goes about the discharge of his duties.

“He’s a very clean man and can best be adjudged as an incorruptible policeman.”

Prof. Felix Asogwa, the Director of the Institute in his address, noted that; “The choice of the Commissioner of Police, Enugu for the Fellow Award by the Board of the Institute and the University Management was predicated on his outstanding records, other personal attributes and exemplary leadership style viz-a-viz zero tolerance for corruption, objective mindedness in his approach to issues,” which he said “have contributed significantly in making Enugu State to be adjudged as one of the safest states in the country.”

He also pointed out that; “Since assuming office as the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State ,CP Abdurrahman has left no one in doubt that excellent policing requires special qualities and attributes especially in human relations and sound economic footing. Sheikh Ahmed Abdurrahman has demonstrated profound humility in handling matters relating to peace and security in the state, which has been an uncommon commodity among our leaders.”

Eulogising his academic qualifications, Prof. Asogwa highlighted that; “In terms of academic profiling and experience in the profession, CP Ahmed Abdurrahman stands out as one of the best, given his level of certification.

In his acceptance speech, the Commissioner thanked the Board of the Institute and the University Management for finding him worthy to be inducted as a Fellow of the Institute, describing it as “an uncommon honour that will further spur him to accomplish more in his duties, especially in the area of maintaining peace and order through Alternative Dispute Resolution and be a good ambassador of the institute.

“This certificate you have given to me, I’m going to use it as a license that I’m qualified to interact with every society and all level of leadership not only in the security structure and treasure the plaque given to me as it will be a symbol to tell the entire world that I belong to this noble institute.”

The CP becomes the second person to be inducted as a “Fellow” of the Institute after the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Among those who accompanied the CP to witness the ceremony included Enugu Zonal Coordinator of Standard Organization of Nigeria, Mr. Qasim Yahaya; ACP Fidelis Ogarabe; ACP Dauda Ayuba; ACP Zainab Pembi; and SP Abdulkareem Adewale. Others include the Divisional Police Officers of Nkanu West, Nkanu East, Aninri, Awgu, Owelle-Court, Mbanabo, Nenwe and Ozalla Police Divisions as well as the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, among others.
