Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has rejected plans by the Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq administration to secure loan to fund projects next year.

The governor had during the presentation of the 2021 budget to the House of Assembly said his administration might “take bonds in the new year to fund critical projects to attract investments and widen the economic base of the state.”

In a statement, PDP spokesman Tunde Ashaolu urged the lawmakers and Kwara people to reject the government’s proposed borrowing, saying such move would further place more financial burden on the state with absolutely no result to show for it.

PDP said the government should reduce rising cost of governance, look inward and devise means to finance the budget by expanding the state’s revenue base, instead of obtaining loans.
