The People of Umuisu in Ugbawka, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State have applauded Governor ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his peaceful and all inclusive style of leadership.
Speaking to newsmen Monday, after the igweship election by the Community members, where high Chief Sunday Nwobodo emerged unopposed as the igwe of the Community with over 600 votes, which was done in the presence of the commissioner for chieftaincy affairs, Barr. Charles Egumgbe, representatives of the local Government council, security agencies amongst others, the community members, expressed their happiness over the leadership style of the Governor, especially, the creation of an autonomous Community by the Governor for them as well as, giving them the opportunity of producing their choice of leader, which they say, defines Governor Ugwuanyi as a man of peace.
Speaking to our correspondent, the immidate past councillor of the community, Hon Christian Chukwu, described the election, as the unanimous opinion of the people.
“The election of High Chief Sunday Nwobodo is a divine one as he is not just a leader, but also a son of the soil, who prioritise the interest of the community.”
Another member of the community: Pastor Patrick Edeoji opined that the election was devoid of any objection as their ìgwè elect is somebody, who has the wherewithal to succeed and take the community to the next level.
“High Chief Sunday Nwobodo’s electoral victory, saw almost all the people of Umuisu community in Ugbawka , coming out en mass to endorse him as their igwe-elect.
“I strongly believe that his wealth of experience, knowledge and connections will bring phenomenal development to the community.”
The igwe-elect of Umuisu autonomous Community Ugbawka, High Chief Sunday Nwobodo, expressed his joy over his emergence as the sole choice of his community.
He also thanked Governor ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ensuring that maximum security were provided during the event.
” I want to thank God for a day like this, as my community have unanimously found me worthy to be their First Igwe, i also thank Governor ifeanyi ugwuanyi for giving us an autonomous community as well as, his support in ensuring that peace is the watchword of every community in Enugu, he is an answered prayer, to ndi Enugu .
“I want to assure my people, that this leadership mantle, will not be a thing of regret for them.
