Greater Igbo Forum, a socio-political group, has aligned itself with the proposal of the immediate past governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha “on bringing the good people in APC and PDP together to share ideas that will move the nation forward.”
Leading the Forum on a solidarity visit to the Senator representing Imo North at the Unity House, Abuja, the President of the group, Dr. Chikelu Obinna, noted that the purpose of the visit was to motivate the lawmaker on his exceptional leadership qualities and people oriented legislations.
According to him, “building a greater, sustainable and prosperous nation is collective responsibility of every patriotic and forward thinking Nigerian irrespective of our tribes, religion and political affiliation.
“We only have a common goal: to reclaim the loss glory of our Father land and reposition it to be a nation that our children will be proud to call their Father land.”
“The Forum encouraged the former governor to remain focused in providing dividends of democracy to people no matter the level of opposition,” Dr. Chikelu added.
The Forum appreciated Okorocha’s humanitarian services to the people both as an entrepreneur and as a political office holder.
In his response, the Senator who welcomed the group, expressed joy for their visit and recognition, promising to always stand for the people. He further expressed his desire to see a better, prosperous and united Nigeria.
He said: “A greater and prosperous Nigeria is beyond any political interest. The state of the nation is a great concern to well-meaning Nigerians irrespective of the political party you belong. Greater Igbo Forum has taken the lead in supporting and partnering with a man of vision in recreating a new Nigeria of our dreams.”
Dr. Chikelu assured Okorocha of the Forum’s mandate on the unity of the nation and promised to, with other Igbo socio-cultural organization and patriotic Nigerians, move the nation forward.
