In line with the fact of further enhancing and strenghtening community safety and security through community peace building for a safe, peaceful and secured community/school, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) through the IGP M.A Adamu Pocacov Resource Centre, Enugu has worked out modalities through the modules earlier developed to end recidivism by some corrected and discharged persons in the community.
Under the Forum base activity which is tagged “POCACOV Traditional Rulers Consultative Forum(PTRCF)”, the diligent supervision of various corrected and discharged persons will be strenghtened in partnership with the community leaders and other relevant stakeholders and in conjunction with the POCACOV Volunteer Club (PVC) members of Safer Community and Schools to discourage corrected and discharged persons’indulgence in recidivism which has been identified as a problem to community safety, peace and security.
This was disclosed by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu on March 10 while reacting on the modalities by POCACOV on Community peace building, safety and security.
He further revealed that the forum base activity to be undertaken by POCACOV and its stakeholders to strenghten community peace as well as safety is a deliberate attempt and in line with the community oriented policing tenets and which is linked to the public safety and security framework of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP M.A Adamu.
This forum base activity which is community driven will involve the partnership of Ministries, Department and Agencies and importantly, correctional services as it will help to achieve a full scale reorientation and reintegration for a safer society.
The program will also cut across some other disturbing issues in the community such as substance/drug abuse, Sexual and Gender Base Violence(SGBV), trafficking in persons(T.I,P)/Smuggling of Migrants(S.O.M) amongst other vices and provides a platform of value reorientation which will in turn bring about strategic leadership direction.
He further maintained that the Forum base activity will promote intercultural dialogue to be steered by the POCACOV Volunteer Clubs members, POCACOV NYSC Community Development Service(POCACOV NYSC CDS) as well as some POCACOV partners such as SALUTE NIGERIA INITIATIVE(FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER) to bring about full scale Civil Security Education (C.S.E) which will also reinforce intelligence network, mitigate community activities on recidivism will as well as youth children and youth involvement crime and criminality as the conveyor belt and supply chains will be cut off.
POCACOV is a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu involving different stakeholders and galvanizing their support to mitigate cultism and other social vices for a safe,peaceful and secured communities/school.
