…Says the land in question wasn’t acquired by the Governor
Evang Chinedu Obigwe, the National coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum has said that the women that stormed the site of ongoing Anambra international Cargo Airport project “are executing a politically motivated hatchet job.”
Journalist101 had reported that women of Umueri, a town in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State took to the street to protest against what they described as outright theft by the State Governor; Chief Willie Obiano whom they alleged has used the Umueri Cargo Airport as a ploy to grab all their lands illegitimately.
Going further, Evang Obigwe described the action of the women as “ill advised” stressing that it “must be condemned” as the women “constituted themselves as a clog in the wheel of government sincere desire to deliver dividends of good governance to ndi Anambra.”
On the claim by the protesters that their land was wrongly taken by the Governor, Obigwe maintained that: “Umueri people should have it at the back of their mind that the ongoing Airport project belongs to ndi Anambra and not to Governor Obiano and that is to say that going to the project site to insult Governor Obiano is the most stupid and foolish thing for them to do.
“I discovered from my investigation that they are calling Governor Obiano’s name in vain because he was not the person that did acquisition of land for the Airport project.
“Those that did the acquisition are Senator Chris Ngige and Fmr Governor Peter Obi.
“The parcel C and D acquisition they are talking of was acquired by past administration and not Governor Obiano.
“Another of my investigation revealed that the problem that made them to be alleging that Parcel C and D were not among the lands acquired by government for the Airport project was created by them.
“In the past, lips service was paid to the Airport project before the coming of Governor Obiano’s administration made it a reality.
“Some land speculators from Umueri sold part of the land meant for the Airport project but when Governor Obiano’s administration started the execution of the project it became clearer to both the buyers and the land speculators involved that the land transaction cannot hold hence the reason why they went berserk.
“Heaping insult on Governor Obiano will not stop him from living up to the expectation of ndi Anambra.
“Anybody that read the speech credited to the protesters will conclude that there protest was politically motivated and that they did it for the purpose of painting the Governor black.
“I will say that the truth they cannot cover with their bare hands is that the ongoing international Cargo Airport project is among the enviable legacy projects of Governor Obiano’s administration he will be remembered for.
“The protest of misguided elements from Umueri at the ongoing international Cargo Airport project is tantamount working against the collective interest of ndi Anambra and my advice to them is that they should remove the hand of the monkey from the soup pot before it turns into the hand of a human being.
“What they are doing is a fight against ndi Anambra and not Governor Obiano.
“Governor Obiano did not commit any crime by executing an enviable legacy project that will be beneficial to both Umueri people and ndi Anambra at large.
“The expectation of ndi Anambra from Umueri people as the host community for Anambra international Cargo Airport project is their maximum cooperation with Obiano’s administration in a commendable bid to make the project a reality.
“Doing otherwise is not good for Umueri people.
“Governor Obiano has shown commendable commitment to the actualisation of the international Cargo Airport project and he deserves to be encouraged.
“I truly doff my cap for the Governor because of the level of work done at the Airport project site.
“Daalu nu.”
