•Oyo police arraign Wakili, others for murder, kidnapping, robbery

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has restated that his administration will not give land to herders across the 18 local councils of the state.

He, however, asserted that he would key into the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) of the Federal Government to ensure that incessant clashes between farmers and herders are permanently resolved.

Akeredolu stated this, yesterday, while receiving a delegation of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) led by its Country Representative, Mr. Fred Kafeero, at the Governor’s Office in Akure.

FAO Country Representative, who described the long lasting collaboration between the state government and FAO as mutually beneficial, said the global body would continue to help within its core mandate to support the state and its farmers at ensuring food security.

IN another development, Oyo State Police Command yesterday arraigned the dreaded Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili, at Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, kidnapping, murder and armed robbery.

The police charged Wakili alongside his sons, Abu, Samaila and Aliyu Manu.

The prosecuting counsel, Adewale Amos, told the court that Wakili and his sons allegedly conspired to commit the offences.

The magistrate ordered that the suspects be remanded in Abolongo Correctional Facility.

He also ordered the police to return the case file to the state Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and consequently adjourned the matter till May 17, 2021 for mention.
