Former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has reacted to the ruling of the Federal High Court which declared Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, winner of the Imo North bye-election held in December 2020.
The former governor and the senator representing Imo West Senatorial zone said the ruling of the court “is a very wonderful development” as it would make the state “have two Senators of APC extraction in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, out of the three Senators from the State.”
The Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Thursday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume a certificate of return within 72 hours in the Dec. 5, 2020 Imo North Senatorial By-election,
Sen. Okorocha in a press statement by Sam Onwuemeodo, his Special Adviser on media expressed confidence that Araraume as a former two term Senator would” bring his wealth of experience to bear and for the good of the people of Imo North Senatorial District in particular, Imo people and Nigerians in general” and “commended the Judiciary for always proving that, it remains the last hope of the common man.”
Below is the statement in full:
Following the affirmation of a Federal High Court in Abuja that, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume was the authentic Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Imo North Senatorial bye-election, the former governor of the State, and Senator Representing Imo West Senatorial District, Senator Rochas Okorocha has joined other well-meaning Nigerians, especially Imo people, to Congratulate Senator Araraume on his Victory.
With Senator Araraume in the Senate, lmo state would now have two Senators of APC extraction in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, out of the three Senators from the State. And to all intents and purposes, that is a very wonderful development.
Senator Araraume having served in the Senate for two terms before now, would now be expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear and for the good of the people of Imo North Senatorial District in particular, Imo people and Nigerians in general.
Senator Okorocha also commended the APC members in Imo North Senatorial District, who had worked hard to ensure that the party won at the Poll. He equally commended the Chairman of APC in the State, Mr. Daniel Nwafor and members of his EXCO for their support for Senator Araraume.
He urged Senator Araraume to carry everybody in his Senatorial District along, not minding the Political Parties or political camps they all belong.
Senator Okorocha commended the Judiciary for always proving that, it remains the last hope of the common man.
