A business mogul, Youth activist and a one time deputy chairman of Enugu South Local Government, Hon Chidi Duke Nwafor, haa described the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as a phenomenon whose leadership style have seen the youths in Enugu occupying position of trust in the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday, Hon Duke stated that, Governor Ugwuanyi’s willingness to reposition the mindsets of Enugu Youths through his actions and programmes is a testament that he mean well for them.
“Governor Ugwuanyi has demonstrated that he’s a staunch supporter of the not-too-young to run or lead ideology as he has been able to raise a new crop of young leaders.
“Besides allocating over 75 percent of the Enugu state council chairmanship positions to the youths and through the instrumentality of our political party, young and vibrant candidates emerged to represent their constituencies at the State House of Assembly and that of the local government councils. Ugwuanyi is still raising young political leaders and giving out political appointments to the youths into his cabinet, a feat that is second to none and first of its kind in Nigeria’s political setting.”
Speaking further, Duke maintained that; “Governor Ugwuanyi has done noble for Enugu Youths and doesn’t segregate based on cultural affinity or political differences and gives them the opportunity to discuss their problems and proffer solutions to them”.
He also warned that “should Enugu youths mismanage this Golden opportunity provided for them by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, they may not get such an opportunity any time soon and enjoined Enugu Youths to rally round the Governor and support him, because, to whom much is given, much is expected.”
“In all, Governor Ugwuanyi’s leadership style of nurturing and building the youths in the realm of politics via appointments and guidance has no doubt demonstrated his passion for a great state in particular and the nation at large. Ugwuanyi demonstrated that the youths are no longer leaders of tomorrow but leaders of today.
“Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has set a precedence that his successors would have no other option but to follow,” Duke concluded.
