…says IPOB leader failed, didn’t complete his studies in London
…People are getting tired of PDP
…APC poised to occupy Lion Building come 2023 – Zwingina
The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu has cautioned parents in the South East against allowing their wards to join the Eastern Security Network, ESN, set up by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Okechukwu who issued the warning during a meeting organized by Chairman of the Enugu state membership registration and revalidation committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Jonathan Zwingina, on Thursday, urged Igbo youths interested in the safety and security of lives and properties of Ndigbo to rather join the regional security outfit, Ebubeagu, recently announced by governors of the South East.
Berating the IPOB leader, he disclosed that Kanu failed in school during his studies in London and as a result couldn’t get a degree certificate from the institution.
The APC chieftain who lamented the consequences of his actions, asked Kanu to return to the country and lead from the front if people are to take him seriously, adding that “IPOB and Kanu’s agitation is pointless and aimless; our people should ignore his lies.”
“Don’t listen to IPOB. Our young boys who are in IPOB were not there during the war, they never traveled. If you come to Adamawa, you go to Zwingina’s town or you go to Mubi, an extreme part of Adamawa, you will find our brothers and sisters who are doing well. Did IPOB ask them about their own choice? If you go to Oron which is the other extreme, you find Igbo people there doing well, IPOB did not ask them what they want.
“What IPOB is saying are all lies. Tell your children that the Igbos are happy all over the country. Nnamdi Kanu don’t know what he’s doing in IPOB. Someone who couldn’t finish his studies in England. Nnamdi Kanu failed in school, he couldn’t get a degree.
“Let nobody tell us lies or tell your children to go and join ESN. There’s no ESN. The Southeast governors have formed what they call Ebubeagu. If your vigilantes want to join, let them join Ebubeagu, don’t join ESN. If they want to join ESN, let their Commander, Nnamdi Kanu come home if it is true. Don’t allow him to take your children to where they will be killed because all he’s saying are lies,” Okechukwu cautioned.
PDP has failed Ndi Enugu, people getting tired of the party
Highlighting the achievements of President Muhammadu-led administration at the state level, Okechukwu noted that his party, the APC, has done so much for the people of Enugu state more than the “non-performing” years of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at both the state and federal levels.
According to him, “In Adada in Uzo-Uwani local government area, we have a rice plantation field; one of the largest best in the country that started in 1962. For all the 16 or 20 years of the PDP, they never remembered that rice field. It was President Buhari that awarded N2.8 billion contract and it’s about finishing now. We have six urban water schemes for the six geopolitical zones, Enugu state got one. It was the same Muhammadu Buhari. In few months time in Enugu, the women in Nsukka will not use the money they would have used to buy food for their children to buy water because there would be water there.
“The polytechnics lined up for the six geopolitical zones, Enugu state got one. In about six science and technology units, Enugu state got one. Those who condemn what is going on most of the time forget where the rain started. The rain started about thirty something years ago.
“Enugu state receives over a trillion from the federal government. It’s our duty to explain to Enugu people that PDP has failed them. For 21 years, when you add between 1999 to 2023, it will be 24 years of non-performance.
“Don’t listen to gossips. This is what APC has done. We’ve given you water. What they couldn’t give you. The water PDP destroyed in Enugu was the one that was constructed by Buhari as Chairman of PTF in the late 90s. Obasanjo came and stopped the company that designed the Oji River water scheme project and said it will not continue. It’s the same PDP. They got more money and they neglected Enugu. So, when your children are hungry, don’t just point at Buhari. Please don’t forget those who started the rain that is beating you.
“By 2023, President Buhari will go. There will be a new president and we pray it will be better and with 180,000 votes, we’re going to the Lion Building because people are getting tired of PDP. They started a Secretariat, the one built by the British, they couldn’t finish it. They couldn’t provide ordinary water too,” he posited.
Unite, team up with Nwoye, push him forward – Zwingina
Earlier in his address, Zwingina had appealed to party members to close ranks with the Chairman Caretaker Committee of the APC in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, in order to forge a formidable front as the 2023 governorship election which the party has zoned to Enugu East Senatorial Zone, draws near.
Disclosing that the party in the state registered 180,291 members during their recent nationwide registration and revalidation exercise, the former Adamawa state lawmaker expressed confidence that with such figure the APC was positioned to take over the state from the hands of the ruling PDP.
He appreciated members and leaders of the party in the state for their efforts during the registration exercise, disclosing that three local government areas of Awgu, Nsukka and Igbo-Eze North took the first, second and third positions, respectively, in terms of their numerical strength.
“The registration was concluded with great success. The last registration exercise in 2017, Enugu state registered only 54,000 party members. But today, nearly 3 years after, we have been able to register, very honestly to a large degree, 180,291 members. This is 3 times the number of the last registration.
“All of you have done wonderfully well. Three local government areas came out outstanding, the first one is Awgu, the second one is Nsukka and the third is Igbo-Eze North. These figures may not look very large compared to other states. There is a state with maybe half population of Enugu where they registered 1.5 million people and the whole population of the state, including children that are not in primary school are not up to the 1.5 million. Please don’t follow the figures, follow the rate of growth. With this rate of growth, the party, even if it’s only 180,000 that vote for APC, Lion Building will be our accommodation in 2023.
“All you need is to unite, work hard and team up to support your leader. Ben Nwoye has been working very hard. He’s a highly experienced party organizer. Whether his term is coming to an end or not, my appeal to APC members in Enugu is to please push him upstairs. Let him go upstairs so that those coming after him will know that working hard has a reward and a benefit,” Zwingina asserted.
Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Hon. Ejike Eze, Retired Custom Comptroller, Chief Tony Mbah, Permanent Commissioner, Bida Polytechnic, Madam Kate Offor, Chairman Alvan Ikoku Polytechnic, Chief Regina Nwamaka Emena, Chairman APC Peace Committee, Ebubeagu Okafor, State Vice Chairman, Coordinator of Buhari Support Organization, Chief Anike Nwoga, APC Chieftain, Tony Arum, Former local government chairmanship candidates and other party leaders and supporters were present at the meeting.
Osita Okechukwu.
Are you sure you are what you claimed to be Director of VON.
You are talking about how APC is doing better than PDP.
I find it difficult to understand why you joined MNK in your argument. MNK is not partisan.
So Bihari is doing well and his state security agents, The army, police, dss, airforce, navy cannot provide security for Nigerians. You are not ashamed of yourself talking about esn and ebubeagu security outfits.
Youths should now be making choice of enlisting in alternative security outfits and not the army and police, a sign that the government has failed.
