As an aftermath of the attack on country home of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area, security has been beefed up in Owerri, capital of the state.
Around the State Government House and Correctional Centre, Owerri, one lane of the Okigwe road and Bank road was blocked, leaving one lane for commuters.
The development caused traffic gridlock within the city.

Also, the road to the Police Command headquarters and State Government House was reduced to allow a single vehicle per time.
Some Hilux vans loaded with battle-ready soldiers and policemen were seen patrolling major streets.
Detachments of regular and mobile policemen were also seen patrolling with some stationed in strategic positions in the city.
Normal business activities, however, went on smoothly.
Omuma and Awo Omamma communities in Oru East LGA as well as Mgbidi town in Oru West LGA have been taken over by soldiers to restore calm in the area.
