His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Michael Tom (JP), the Sekuro of Niger Delta and Amanyanabo of Okochiri Ancient Kingdom in Okirika, Rivers State has commended the Nigeria Police Force and the policing philosophy of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba on the principles of community policing and policing with people’s consent and the rule of law.

The Royal father who is also the grand patron of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV), a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force made this known on Tuesday in his Okochiri Ancient Kingdom Palace, Rivers State when he received the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu who came on a courtesy visit with his team members ahead of the upcoming Rivers State POCACOV summit and launch.

The monarch said he was pleased and satisfied with the POCACOV team as well as the POCACOV Traditional Rulers Consultative Forum on their efforts in driving the campaign to the grassroots and making it an all inclusive program.

He further advocated that POCACOV as a peaceful movement and a community policing tool designed by the Nigeria Police Force to campaign against cultism, violence, substance and drug abuse and others for a peaceful and safer community needs to be embraced by all.

“I am happy about the penetration ability and widespread of the campaign which is for the good of our youths and the community. As a man of peace and peace loving Royal Father that have identified with POCACOV initiative, we shall keep supporting POCACOV,” said King Ateke Tom while receiving the POCACOV team with his counterpart and Patron of POCACOV in Rivers state, King (AMB) Leslie Nyebuchi, Nyerisi Eli Woji, nyerishi Mbam Oro-Evo, Eze Oha Evo 111 of Evo kingdom Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Earlier, Amaraizu had thanked King Ateke Tom on behalf of the force for his continual effort, support of POCACOV as the Grand Patron which has led to wider community network of the police campaign against cultism and other vices and also intimated him about the upcoming Rivers state POCACOV Summit and Launch which is meant to involve different stakeholders to enhance community peace building and robust relationship between the police and members of the community.

The National Coordinator of POCACOV was joined in the visit by the Lead Consultant POCACOV Akin Emmanuel, the POCACOV Volunteer Club Chairman Rivers State, Amb. Eke Onwuka and some of his executives, amongst others.
