The apex Igbo sociocultural organisation; Ohanaeze Ndigbo has set up a 42-man peace and reconciliation committee.
The members of the committee include both those in the country and people in diaspora. 36 of the members are in the country while 6 are in diaspora.
The committee is part of the communique issued by the South East Governors’ forum at the end of it security meeting with Southeast clergy, leadership of traditional rulers, Ohaneze Ndigbo and joint security Committee held on Sunday, 25th April, 2021 in Enugu.
“The meeting directed Ohaneze Ndigbo President to immediately form two Committees: South East Peace and Reconciliation Committee to engage our people for the peace and security of our people and her visitors…,” the communique reads in part.
