In line with the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police Force through the Office of the Force Public Relations Department on schools visitation program to educate young minds on safety and security education thereby equipping them with the right information which will make them not to yield to peer pressure, bullying amongst other things such as joining bad gangs in cultism, examination malpractice and other vices, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and other vices(POCACOV), a community driven program of the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 visited two secondary schools in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia state.
The POCACOV Team in the state were led to the school by the National Coordinator, CSP Ebere Amaraizu with the message “Say No To Cultism And Other Vices And Be A Champion”.
The first school to be visited was Alaukwu Comprehensive Secondary School, Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia state where the POCACOV team interfaced with the school children and their teachers as well as their school principal.
During the engagement program in the school, students were told about negative consequencies of cultism and other vices and the need to remain law abiding and work harder to make the champion of their dream. They were also reminded of the need to reflect on what they want to be in future and approach the process leading to that from genuine ground at all times. They were taught to know whom their friends are and what he usually do to avoid being misled.
The occassion was also used to expose students on various career opportunities in the Nigeria Police Force such as becoming a pilot, medical doctor, engineer, lawyer amongst others and charged them to remain focused.
There was question and answer section from the students which the National Coordinator attended to. Amaraizu further spoke on the objective of the visitation activity which includes catching them young/cutting the supply chains and conveyor belt.
Highlights of the occassion was the formal presentation and handing over of copies of the POCACOV campaign book captioned “Nigerian Youths in Cultism and Other Vices” – A moral guide book to all the school prefects and the school for library use.
Similarly, the POCACOV team also visited Comprehensive Secondary School, Mgboko Itungwa Obingwa, Abia State where same activities at Alaukwu Comprehensive Secondary School took place.
Students who spoke after the exercise commended Nigeria Police Force and their schools for helping to bring the lectures to them as the activity has opened many things worthy of note to them.
The school authority at Comprehensive Secondary School equally thanked POCACOV Team and the National Coordinator for finding time to visit the school.
