POCACOV Volunteer Club Anambra gets advisory council, vows to work with stakeholders to deepen campaig

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) Volunteer Club in Anambra state on May 5, 2021 inaugurated its advisory council to help deepen the campaign against cultism and other vices in various communities in the state.

The members in the list include: HRM Eze Dubem Iweka, the Eze of Obosi, Anambra state as the chairman, Barrister Titus Akpudo, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) as co chairman, Very Rev. Fr. T. Odukwe, the BOT Chairman Ethics and Values Volunteer Foundation as Co-chairman while Chief Arinze Ekelem, a community leader in Umuokpu community, Awka is the patron and member, Princess Amaka Uzodinma, the South East regional team lead of the Institute of Peace and Conflict resolution is a member, His Lordship, Most Rev Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese as patron/member.

Others are Dr. Dennis Ekemezie, member, SP Chukwudi Okoroagu State Coordinator POCACOV, member, Amb. Dr. John-mary Ibeka member, Hon. Afam Ezeoke, member, Mrs Nkechi Flora Ugwuanyi, the coordinator National Human Rights Commission, member and Prince Orjika Donatus, the POCACOV volunteer club chairman, Anambra state as member amongst others.

Earlier in his remarks, the state chairman of the POCACOV volunteer club, Orjika Donatus had welcomed all to the stakeholders meeting and inauguration and noted that the advisory board of POCACOV is designed in line with the tenets of the community oriented policing and to act as the conscience of POCACOV in Anambra state as well as the bedrock upon which the executives and other volunteers shall rest to effectively champion the cause of Pocacov in the community.

He, however, reminded members that they are saddled with the responsibility of exceptional willingness to make bold sacrifices to strenghten community, police relations that will help to guarantee sustainable peace, security and development in Anambra communities and also help in the overall support to mobilization, sensitization of the cutizenry to patriotic civic responsibilities and finally taking the POCACOV message to the grassroot.

Responding, the National Coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, thanked the POCACOV volunteer members as well as the newly advisory council members for their willingness and their efforts to support the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force towards achieving public safety and security and noted that POCACOV as a community driven program, will continue to work with different stakeholders and galvanizing their support to mitigate cultism and other vices.

The National President of the Anambra state Association of Town Union (ASATU), Titus Akpudo expressing his joy over what he described as a positive development, thanked the Nigeria Police Force for the community driven program and assured that ASATU will ensure that POCACOV message is deeprooted in all the Anambra town and villages for a peaceful, secured and safe environment and to save children and youths from the deadly monster.

In the same vein, Princess Amaka Uzodinma of the institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution maintained that the institute will continue to draw up support to deepen POCACOV message to achieve community peace, safety and security through constant stakeholders engagement and participations.
