Akwa Ibom state governor, Emmanuel Udom has raised alarm over the release of armed Militia men that were arrested with 18 AK-47 and was subsequently released by the police after the armed men were handed over to them.
Addressing the press after the incident at the Government House, Governor Udom said the Police commissioner that was recently posted to the state gave the order for the people to released.
“Some people were arrested, they came with 18 AK-47 in army uniform and they were arrested, as I am talking to you now, those people have been released by the order of the commissioner of Police, he gave the order the those people should be let go.
“The 18 AK-47 that were recovered from them, the police have allowed them to take all of them back,” he narrated.
He also disclosed that his people were able to get a picture and a video of those people wearing army uniform before they were let go by the police and” in due course the videos will be made public for the whole world to see.”
The governor also said” the matter has been reported to the Inspector general of police, presidency and all the arms of the security agency and nobody have taken any step to address it leaving Akwa Ibom people to defend themselves, meanwhile they are using a Akwa Ibom oil to maintain security.”
The Governor called on the international community stressing that “this is a war that has been declared or Akwa Ibom people as this is the first time the police is partisan, were the entire police structure belongs to a particular political party.”
He also maintained that whatever happened in the State is caused by the police
