The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has continued to effectively engage communities and stakeholders towards achieving its role of Advocacy, Awareness Creation and Sensitization, Mentoring and Reorientation as a community driven program of the Nigeria Police structured to work with different stakeholders to mitigate cultism, substance and drug abuse, violent behaviour and other vices for a safe, secured and peaceful society.
Several modules of engagement have been developed by the POCACOV Resource Centre Enugu cutting across youth children and youths involvement in cultism and other vices and way out, modules on recidivism and way out, self discovery programmes and the POCACOV passion talk activities for children/youths in schools and communities amongst other notable modules and program of action.
This was disclosed by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu while fielding questions on the essence of POCACOV Passion Talk for self discovery and strategic leadership direction.
According to him, “POCACOV programmes are community driven in line with the Public Safety and Security Framework of the Nigeria Police Force. They are preventive in nature and built around the people. It is to save Nigerian Children and Youths from the claws of cultism, substance and drug abuse, violent behaviours and other vices in the society.
“The program has done a lot and has also contributed immensely in the depopulation of youths/young minds from getting involved in cultism, crime and criminality and their resultant entrance into custodial centre, this is because its modules of engagements are geared towards cutting the supply chains and conveyor belts. As a community driven program, POCACOV modules on youth value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership direction has actually exposed and enlightened young minds on the consequences of belonging to cult groups, antics and way out coupled with the POCACOV school chess game for creative thinking, strategic thinking, calmness under pressure as well as Do it yourself and positive coping skills.
“POCACOV massive and ongoing sensitization across the country is contributing in the depopulation of young minds and offering platform of value reorientation. The ongoing POCACOV School Sensitization Programmes and developed modules offers a platform of educating and sensitizing children and young minds thus helping them to overcome the challenges of dangerous narratives and ideologies in our society.”
