It’s no longer news that renown business mogul and the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, Valentine Ozigbo has emerged the as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Anambra State governorship election.
The Amesi, Aguata-born politician went through the hurdle of 200 ‘super deletes’ of the PDP to. emerge as the winner of the election held at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka on June 26th, 2021.
A total of 200 persons voted in the election, no thanks to the court judgment that nullified the delegate election which subsequently led to the dissolution of the party executives of the PDP in Anambra state by PDP National Working Committee, NWC.
Mr. Ozigbo, the preferred candidate of the Catholic Church and also favoured by zoning polled a total of 62 votes.
His closest opponent, another Catholic faithful but from Anambra Central garnered 58 votes.
Journalist101 was reliably informed that the Senatorial Zone of Dr. Okonkwo, the owner of United airline denied him the ticket as most Catholic leaders prefer him to others as he’s one of their biggest financier in the state and beyond. He lost the election by just 4 votes despite the zoning arrangement working against him.
The senator representing Anambra central, Uche Ekwunife also showed a good representation of herself by scoring 44 votes.
Others are: Lady Chidi, 2 votes; Wiston Udeh, 12 votes; Chris Azubogu, 10 votes; Genevieve Nkwocha, 3 votes; Dr. Godwin Maduka, 5 votes; Walter Okeke, 2 votes; Chidi Onyemelukwe 2 votes; while 3 others stepped down.
