Former Aviation Minister under ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has blasted his party over its handling of the defection of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The PDP had in reaction to the plan of Governor Mattawale to ditch the party for the ruling APC, threatened to sue the governor of he carries out the action.
But Chief Fani-Kayode, in a series of tweets on Tuesday, rubbished the party for attacking Matawalle, admonishing its leadership to go on a deep ‘introspection’ and ‘soul-searching’.
He tweeted:
“The threat by the @OfficialPDPNig to go to court to compel @Bellomatawalle1 to rescind his mandate for decamping to @OfficialAPCNg is senseless.
“All the PDP Governor’s that got their mandate on the APC platform & later joined PDP would also be affected & should not complain. When they were PDP Governors and abandoned the party to join APC they were hailed. But now that some PDP Governors are moving to APC they are being threatened with litigation. This is a case of double standards. What is good for the goose is surely good for the gander.”
“In the last few months PDP has lost 3 Governors and a handful of Senators and House Members. I can confirm that more surprises are coming soon. This should lead to a lot of soul-searching and introspection on the part of the PDP and not insults and threats of litigation.”

Currently, the formal defection of the Governor is being awaited and the venue for the event; Zamfara state Trade Centre Gusau, is set and party faithfuls are crowding the area.
