The umbrella body of all youths in Awgu council area of Enugu State; Awgu Youth General Assembly, AYGA, has passed a vote of confidence on the performance of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and their local government chairman, Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo, stating their solidarity to the current state and local government administrations as it concerns “the zoning of the number one position in Enugu State come 2023.”
The position of the group is contained in a communiqué at the end of their second annual general meeting held on Saturday, 3rd July, 2021 at Awgu LGA Headquarters.
In the communiqué signed by Comr Joe Udefi, the National President; Comr Umeji I. Justice, the National Secretary and Comr Silas Okolie; the National Publicity Secretary, they applauded Nwankwo over his appointment of youths as Supervisors, SPAs, SSAs, and SAs, saying “it has given the youths the opportunity to be involved in the decision making processes of the Council.”
They also hailed him for training and empowering over 300 youths of Awgu in acquiring different skills such as fashion designing, leather works, cosmetology, photography and film editing among others.
The youth body, however, recommended that “the leadership of Awgu LGA under the care of Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo should continue his good work of Youth inclusion in Leadership, as the Youths are prepared to take over the mantle of Leadership at all level for the development of our dear Local Government Area, State and the nation in general.”
They also urged the local government leadership to complete the empowerment of youths trained in the one month skill acquisition program of Eze Ome ogo and unite stakeholders of Awgu LGA under one umbrella for the purpose of progress.
The group also resolved that “the Youths of Awgu LGA will continue to be law abiding and shun any form of social vises that may hinder the process of Awgu LGA and the Society in general.
“That the Youths of Awgu LGA stand with the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State and the dogged and ever accommodating leadership of Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo, the Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA.”
