Promoters of the agitation for a Yoruba Nation have absconded from the venue of their proposed rally in Lagos.
As at press time, security operatives have barricaded Gani Fawehimi Park in Ojota area of Lagos state, which is the designated the venue for the ‘Yoruba nation’ rally.
This is coming after the ‘Yoruba Nation’ agitators under the aegis of Ilana Omo Oodua said the protest will take place on Saturday despite Thursday’s attack on the home of Sunday Igboho, a youth leader, in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
But there are no agitators at the venue.
On Saturday, security operatives including members of the Lagos state police command, the Nigerian Army, and Lagos State Neighborhood Security Council arrived at the protest venue hours before 9:00am — the time the protest was scheduled to commence.
Hakeem Odumosu, the state commissioner of police, arrived at the venue but left shortly without addressing the media.
