A notable Abuja-based and first female auto mechanic in Northern Nigeria, Joyce Daser Adams (aka Autolady Engineering, Garage), has joined the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) as an Ambassador in the ongoing nationwide campaign against cultism, substance and drug abuse and other vices as well as youth value reorientation and strategic leadership direction by the Nigeria Police for a safe, peaceful and secured community.
In her remarks, she commended the Nigeria Police Force for setting out POCACOV as a platform for youth value reorientation and giving a strategic leadership direction to the youths especially the girl and boy child with a view to discovering themselves for a greater Nation.
She made this known shortly after unveiling her as an Ambassador on July 8, alongside Dr Festus Daniel the President, National Industrial safety Council of Nigeria.
According to Autolady as she is fondly called due to her auto mechanical expertise, she believes in the development of children and youth development especially the Boy and Girl child.
“I also believe that as I can do it as a woman, that every lady can also do it or even do it better and through that impact greatly on the society. I also believe that there is no gender barrier in any profession especially in this auto mechanic work. I studied Mechanical Engineering and decided to go into practice and I have today widened the scope and have both male and female youths that are working with me in various areas of Auto Mechanic and by God’s grace, we are doing it with passion.
“I joined POCACOV because having followed what they are doing especially on youth value reorientation especially that of the girl child, I became interested because a saying had it that when you empower a woman, you have empowered the entire nation then, I decided to join in order to make my contributions to count.
“We don’t need to allow our young minds get involved in crime and criminality especially cultism and other vices. We need to constantly join POCACOV in the creation of awareness to discourage vulnerability of young minds and to enable them look up to themselves as capable of setting the pace by believing in themselves.”
POCACOV is the community driven program as well as public relations tool of the Nigeria Police Force aimed at saving Nigerian Children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices and also giving them a platform of self discovery and strategic leadership direction through stakeholders engagement/involvement and in line with the community oriented policing tenets.
