…says his death, a fundamental loss to the people
The deputy minority leader of the House of Representatives Hon. Toby Okechukwu has decribed the death of the Managing Director, Scientific Equipment and Development Institute (SEDI) Prof. Samuel Ndubuisi, as a fundamental loss to the entire society.
Okechukwu who noted that it was quite unfortunate that his demise would happen at this time, said “these are people who have the vision and capacity to out change our environment, unfortunately this is what we lost to hoodlums who may not know the implications of what they have done.
“It is unfortunate that this happened at this difficult time. Nigeria has lost a great leader and the government and people of Enugu State certainly mourn his demise. We condole with his family, the people of Mgbowo Awgu and Nigeria as a whole.”
The lawmaker representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency, regretted that there were so many unfinished businesses they had in mind to execute with the help of the late Ndubuisi, saying it has now become memories.
Okechukwu disclosed that he had trained over 500 people from the area of the deceased and other parts of the country, “and these are people who manufacture science kits, science laboratory equipments, grinding machines, for industries, they equip tools. Now we can’t import spare parts, they fabricate spare parts for them, manufacture feeds for fish, feeds for poultry and for cows.
“These are people who have the vision and capacity to out change our environment. Unfortunately this is what we lost to hoodlums who may not know the implications of what they have done,” he regretted.
Describing the late Prof. Ndubuisi as a man of peace and great wisdom, Rep Okechukwu restated that the House of Representatives have already moved a motion to follow-up interrogation and investigation by the Nigeria Police to make sure they do their jobs.
Expressing sadness that the deceased was killed in a very uncertain circumstances, he noted it was the responsibility of the House to interrogate what actually happened. “We therefore, insisted that the Nigeria Police must make sure that they make proper findings on the killers and prevent such from happening again.
“Much more importantly, he is a public servant working for the federal government. He died working in the line of duty and we in the House cannot allow that to go uninvestigated. We are going to follow up on that motion to make sure the Police do their job,” he said.
He further noted that Ndubisi was an intellectual whose contributions to the society would be greatly missed.
“It is not just the family, we are all in a grieving mood. The Prof I know is a man of peace, a man of great wisdom, the greatest thing we can do for him is to show leadership, and show some kind of stability particularly for the wife. She has to organise the family it is sad that it happened not what we expected as a great loss to her and to some of us who are his bosom friends who have worked with him.
“There are so many unfinished thing we have to do with Prof. We were discussing how he was going to train our people, they are producing machines for fish feeds, manufacturing for us. He has a number of them he has shown me. Those are meant to empower young people all those things are just memories now.
“It’s very sad he is the person who have shown our people the way to go. We have a program on waste to wealth, to convert water proofs and plastic into some kind of raw materials, so you can imagine the expectation and help he would have given to young people there, they are all gone now.
“It’s not just a loss to the family but a fundamental loss to our people and to the things he could have done for the greater common good and for the common wealth of our people,” he stated.
