The Daughters of Divine Love (DDL) of Bishop Okoye Memorial School Abakpa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu state, on Thursday, identified with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and other Vices (POCACOV) as a veritable partner and platform for effective reorientation of school children and youths as well as others for a safe, peaceful and secured community.

This was made known during a courtesy visit by the group to the POCACOV Resource Centre Enugu.

According to the leader/directress of the group, Rev. Sis. Dr. Mary Catherine Ikenga, “we have carefully followed various program of the POCACOV initiative of the Nigeria Police Force and have found them worthwhile to be associated with in order to reorient children, youths, parents, caregivers and other people.

“We commend the Nigeria Police Force for the program which is aimed at educating our young minds on the dangers of cultism, substance abuse, violent behaviour, examination malpractice and other vices for a better society. This is indeed community policing at work.”

She further maintained that the step taken by the Nigeria Police Force through POCACOV to constantly conduct school sensitization program is quite commendable as it will help to mitigate school children/students’ involvement in cultism and other vices.

“It will also help to remind parents, caregivers including teachers on various child upbringing responsibilities and pointing out that they are finally at the POCACOV Resource Centre for collaboration on the publication of an anti-cultism, anti-social novel for school children titled ‘The Shenanigans Hit The Low’.

Responding, the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu welcomed the team and thanked them for identifying with POCACOV and associating with POCACOV as partners in progress towards catching them young and helping them not only to overcome negativity ideology but ensuring the cutting of conveyor belt and supply chains.

He further stated that POCACOV is a community driven program and public relations tool working with different stakeholders and using community oriented policing approaches to save Nigerian children/youths from the claws of cultism and other vices. The program is problem solving away from core law enforcement approach and also solution providers to youths challenges in the community.

He however assured that the POCACOV will continue to work with different stakeholders to achieve the goals of the Nigeria Police Force as contained in its safety and security framework of communities.
