The Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration is targeting over 500 widows in the state to benefit from the Gburus Widows’ Care Initiative, an instrument for reaching out and caring for the less-privileged and indigent widows.
The kick-off exercise for the first phase of the program is scheduled to hold on August 1, 2021 at Adada House GRA Nsukka. The event is to be witnessed by Council Chairmen, Government functionaries, Stakeholders of PDP, Traditional rulers and the beneficiaries.
Gburus Widows’ Care Initiative is a platform to encourage the most indigent widows, coordinated by Hon. Dr. Ben Ugwoke.
The aim of the initiative is to reach out to the most indigent widows/persons with some capacity support and train them in any microbusiness of their choice. After the successful completion of the training, they will be provided with financial support to start up a business that would sustain them with their families. They will also be followed up and encouraged from time to time to ensure that the goal of the Initiative is achieved.
