The Enugu State Chairman of Taekwondo Association, CSP Ebere Amaraizu has revealed that the upcoming Taekwondo event on August 21, tagged “SouthEast Taekwondo Poomsae Under 18 Championship” will live up to its expectations of creating a platform of self discoveries of future Taekwondo Champions from the grassroots.
Amaraizu disclosed this in Enugu yesterday, while reacting on the level of the readiness and preparation of his association on a befitting hosting of the all important event which is organized by the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF).
“We thank the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) on their choice of Enugu as host for the National Tournament which is not easy to come by. It is an honour and recognition that the game is drastically going higher in Enugu state as we recently organized state Poomsae event in which our athletes from our Taekwondo from our kiddies class participated and emerged victorious in their various categories.
“The South East Taekwondo Poomsae under 18 championship is also supported by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) because it also revolves around children and youth value reorientation, self discovery and strategic leadership direction,” he said.
The event will feature black belt Kukkuwon grading and there will also be National Referee Course.
Meanwhile the categories includes: KIDDIES 5-10YRS, CADETS IS 11-14YRS and JUNIORS 15-17 YRS while the event will be centered on A, Poomsae individual Kiddies Male, B, Poomsae individual Kiddies Female. C, Poomsae individual Cadets male and female respectively and Poomsae Individual Juniors for male and female.
Amaraizu, however, expressed optimism that the involvement of various stakeholders such as the media, public spirited and sports loving individuals as well as corporate organizations and government and non-governmental organizations will serve as a boost and a good tonic for the overall achievement of the essence of the all important program which will help to shoot the game of Taekwondo up in the South East and in Nigeria.
