In line with the World Standard Sustainable Development Goals 8- Decent work and Economic Growth; Sustainable and Development Goal 1: No Poverty, the Enugu State government through the Small and Medium Enterprise, SME, has graduated 500 youths that were trained on digital skills.
The ‘Enugu Tech’ training which was done in partnership with Utiva is aimed at incubating young tech talents from Enugu for the Global Market.
During the straining which lasted for 120 days, the youths were exposed to Programming, product design and other digital skills which will help to catapult them into the digital space and enable them becoming players in the muti-billion dollar industry.
Speaking to the graduands at their graduation ceremony held on Friday, 23rd July, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser to the Governor on SME Development and Head, Enugu SME Center enjoined the beneficiaries to ensure that they continue to develop themselves in other to become experts in the field.
Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah told them the importance of learning Digital Skills which according to him, “are the fast moving high income earning professions available. People in the Tech space are earning thousands of dollars and Enugu State teeming youth population has the capacity to achieve this.
“It is still a long journey as you need to continuously train and learn your course work to be considered experts in the field.”
Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah assured that: “With the skills learnt, they are ready to add to the economic base of the State.”
He disclosed that the Centre under His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State have so far trained and graduated 500 youths and is concluding arrangements to train another 500 before end of 2021.
