Barr. Chukwuma Ede

The President General of Mgbuji autonomous community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, Barr. Chukwuma Ede has dismissed the report on some sections of the media that the police forced them to cede their lands to Fulani herdsmen.

A part of the report on the attack by the herdsmen which claimed many lives said that the police asked members of the community to sign an undertaking before they could release the corpses to the family members for burial.

The report also said that part of the undertaking was that they would allocate land to the Fulani people, accept and live together with them whenever they return to the community.

But in a chat with Barr. Ede, he confirmed that about 8 persons were gruesomely murdered and also said that the police was at the village when they were contacted to evacuate the corpses.

He also said that the Police are on top of the matter and that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu has ordered for a discrete investigation into the matter to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the problem, thus “the report that the police and the Government of Enugu State aren’t doing anything to stem the killings aren’t only malicious and mischievous but unfounded and didn’t come from any member of my community.”

On the report that they were asked to sign an undertaking by the police before the corpse could be released, Barr. Ede said; “its not true that the police concerning the incident that happened on 27th of May in Okpokwu Mgbuji said that a portion of land be ceded to the Fulanis.

“What happened is that their are some procedures must be followed before the corpses are released. I and the families of the deceased wrote an application to the Commissioner of Police for corpses to be released and he directed that the application be processed. That application as I speak to you right now is been processed and it’s in the last stage for the corpses to be released. So the police didn’t at any point, whether directly or indirectly demanded that any land be ceded to the Fulanis for the corpses to be released. That allegation isn’t true, it’s unfounded and a misrepresentation of fact.

  1. I believe the police can not possibly ask a community to allocate land to terrorists before corpses are released. They are humans and should have conscience. As terrorist herdsmen; nani otu ubosi ka ha ga- aghota Igbo adighi achi. Chineke ndi Igbo adighi kwa araghu ura.
The Fulani herdsmen are tempting the East. They better be care with the goods they are ordering from the IGBO zone.
