KANO State Fire Service on Thursday confirmed the death of a 37-year-old man, Muzambilu Sunusi.

Sanusi was said to have died on Wednesday morning at Bichi town in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State, while dismantling iron rod under a bridge.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Mr Saminu Abdullahi, made the confirmation in Kano.

“We received a distress call from the Divisional Crime Officer, Bichi Police Station, at about 8.30 am that a bridge had collapsed on a man.

“On receiving the information, we promptly dispatched our rescue team to the scene at 8.35 am,” he said.

Abdullahi said Sunusi was, however, rescued from underneath the bridge and rushed to the Bichi General Hospital for medical attention, where the doctor on duty later confirmed him dead.

According to him, the cause of his death was blamed on the rod he dismantled under the bridge, which unfortunately fell on him.
