Senator Dino Melaye, who represented Kogi West in the eighth Assembly, has responded to those linking him to suspected international scammer, Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi.
The Nation reports Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai last year and extradited to the United States of America.
Hushpuppi is standing trial for conspiracy to launder money allegedly obtained from business email compromise frauds and other scams.
Reacting, Melaye in a sarcastic video shared on his verified Instagram page, described the $31m as “audio money.”
He jokingly pleaded to be given just $1 million while the rest of the money can be kept by those accusing him of crime.
Melaye, who spoke in Pidgin, said: “I just read on Twitter and Instagram that Hushuppi held Dino Melaye launder $31 million. Out of the money, you people should just give me one million dollars is enough for me.
“Those of you who are saying this, please take the audio $31 million and give me just $1million. Please, I’m waiting for the $1 million I really need it.
“They said the US FBI is after me but I did two months in America, or is it that they forgot to arrest me at their airport? ‘Awon Oloshi.”
