The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has slammed an indefinite suspension on the former speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Eugene Odoh for his alleged role in the July 31st ward congresses of the party.
Also suspended the State Executive Committee of the party are Flavor Eze, the personal assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Princess Ada Ogbu and one El-Aja.
Briefing newsmen at the party’s secretariat, Dr. Ben Nwoye the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Enugu APC said the suspension of the four members of the party follows the recommendation of the Investigative and disciplinary Committee for the ward congresses.
Dr. Nwoye disclosed that the Committee found out that; “There is a high level conspiracy by some of the party leaders to hijack the result sheets through the Committee Chairman Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu.
“That Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, Princess Ada Ogbu, Chief Flavor Eze and Hon. El Ajah were directly responsible for collating fictitious names and filing in fake people as winners of the Ward Congresses.
“That Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo delivered the forged result sheets to INEC Enugu office.
“That Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, Princess Ada Ogbu and other co-conspirator induced the Congress Committee Chairman, Dr. ljeoma Arodiogbu and influenced him to hand over the result sheets and other sensitive Congress materials to their custody.
“That Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo and Princess Ada Ogbu employed people to write fake winners on the result sheets.
“That Princess Ada Ogbu provided South East Secretariat as the convenient venue for the forgery of result of the Enugu State Ward Congresses held on July 31, 2021.
“That other highly placed individuals are involved in the conspiracy to truncate the result of the Ward Congresses held in Enugu on July 31, 2021”
Subsequently, the committee which was headed by the Enugu East zonal chairman of the party, Chief Anike Nwoga recommended; “That Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, Princess Ada Ogbu, Chief Flavor Eze and Hon. El Ajah should be suspended indefinitely.
“That investigation should continue to ascertain the role played by other highly placed party leaders in the result forgery scheme.
“That this report should be forwarded to APC Imo State Chapter with a request that they commence an investigation into the role played by Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu in the Enugu State Ward Congress result forgery scheme.
“That this report should be forwarded to the National Chairman and request investigation into the activities of Dr. Jjeoma Arodiogbu.”
Dr. Nwoye said that the State Executive Committee of the party has met and upheld the recommendations of the Committee and suspended the affected members of the party Indefinitely.
In his reaction to his suspension, the former Speaker said, told our correspondent that Dr. Nwoye has been purportedly suspended and as their former chairman, he lacks the power to suspend him.
“Ben Nwoye is our former Chairman.He was suspended by over 40 members of SEC this morning and as such couldn’t ve have had the power or the requite number to suspend anyone,” Eugene said.
Similarly, Chief Flavor Eze said the allegations against him are unfounded as he was never part of any plot to short change any member of the party.
He maintained that he voted in his ward after which he moved round with his principal, Geoffery Onyeama, the minister of Foreign Affairs who went to monitor the process.
However, reacting to his Purported suspension by some members of the party who converged in a hotel in Enugu to say that they have suspended him Dr. Nwoye, dismissed the act, insisting that the said members involved had no such powers to convene SEC meeting in the first instance.
He described the purported removal as a ruse and laughable , adding that those involved in the announcement were impostors.
“I will not respond to them because they are impostors. I just concluded a meeting with the real SEC members at the party office,” Nwoye told our Correspondent.
During the meeting, Benson Eze, the Chairman of all local government Chairmen reiterated their firm believe in the leadership of Dr. Nwoye and assuring they will continue to be by his side as he has changed the fortune of the party since he assumed office as Chairman of the party.
Also, the appointment of Chief Tony Ibekwe as the new Acting Zonal Caretaker Committee Chairman for Enugu West chapter of the party, following the death of it’s former Chairman, Ikechukwu Omenkukwu who died few months ago was announced by the party’s leadership.
Similarly, Mr. Ejiofor Okoloagu, was named the state Chairman of the party in Igbo Etiti local government Area of the state.
Just as the meeting was concluding, political thugs on invaded the Secretariat to disrupt the State Caretaker Executive Committee meeting.
The thugs, had during the invasion, seized the Cameras of TVC and NTA from their Camera men who were covering the event, after which they chased away every body, including reporters who were present at the meeting.
