The residents of Enugu State metropolis under the auspices of ‘Enugu Urban Residents Association’ (EURA) has commenced peace sensitization and awareness campaign in the state, urging the residents to remain peaceful and vigilant, stressing that nothing can be achieved in the atmosphere of insecurity and crisis.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu before the commencement of their sensitization on Saturday, the Chairman of the group, Chief Samuel Okafor (Anu ka enyi) said they were going round the city to talk to the residents to avoid a repeat of the ENDSARS protest and other activities that are capable of breaching the peace and security currently been enjoyed and witnessed in the state.

“Some persons said they are annoyed and begin to destroy public facilities during the ENDSARS protest, how does that affect the government? It is the life of the people of the state that things like the pedestrian barricades that were destroyed are supposed to protect.

“If you go to Abakpa, in Enugu East local government area, banks were destroyed and till date, the people in that area don’t have access to their money except they go to other branches.”

Chief Okafor said the association isn’t happy with the development and that’s why they intend to move around the state to sensitize the people and make them understand that these government properties belong to them and must be protected and not vandalised.

EURA boss said they are also interested in the welfare of the people of the state, because there won’t be an urban city if the basic amenities are lacking.

“We are also interested in ensuring that the government works for the people, provide good road, good health facility, water and other basic amenities.”

Chief Okafor also assured that the sensitization is going to be continuous and they are partnering with so many media outfits to continue to engage the people of the state on the best way to continue to coexist peacefully and help deepen the peace, the administration of Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has entrenched.
