Some gunmen suspected to be bandits have allegedly stormed the Rafi Local Government Council area of Niger State and invaded the palace of Emir of Kagara.
The gunmen who stormed the palace on Tuesday evening were said to be about 60 in number and it was gathered that they came in about twenty motorcycles.
It was gathered that each motorcycle conveyed about three persons and the invaders shot sporadically to scare the Kagara people.
Sources from the town said traders selling goods, being their market day, abandoned their goods and ran for their lives.
It was also gathered that many houses in Kagara are now under lock and key.
Also, some residents were said to have deserted the town and ran to the nearby bush for safety to avoid being kidnapped or killed by the gunmen.
The source said they came through Attahiru Primary School toward Madaka Road leading to the bush where they abducted the students of Kagara Islamic school some months ago.
It was gathered that the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmed Attahiru, has been away for almost two weeks while the people lament the poor network service in Kagara making it difficult to reach out to people outside the town.
The Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, Alhaji Ismaila Danmodibo, could not be reached for comment on the attack as his mobile number was not available.
The effort to also confirm the incident from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, was unsuccessful as his phone was not available.
